Art talk...

I think I very well may love every genre of music... I enjoy certain artists that perform certain genres just as much as other artists that perform completely different genres that is worlds apart. I think we should critique an artists work rather than the art itself. Might keep you from finding something you'd enjoy otherwise.

Actually this should be applied to all forms of art. Some things just mean different things to different people or effect people in a different way than you. Which really doesn't mean that enjoying a certain art makes you any different than anyone else. Everyone has different living experiences and was raised by different means and in different situations by different people who aren't exempt from that reality. So everyone should be inspired by different things and create in different ways. So maybe you can't relate to a certain artist but that doesn't mean all art that falls into said genre is bad nor does it mean the art itself is actually bad.

Any genre can be diverse. For example I adore Horror and most of my art reflects that but it's more so Fantasy I like over anything else. Horror can be very diverse and doesn't Immediately imply the art will have gore. Some is meant to thrill and some is meant to scare and yes some is meant to be Gorey. But I do see a lot of assumptions made being so heavily into one genre though (I would like to also point out I enjoy a ton of other forms of art and media). Most of the assumptions are that because one enjoys a Gorey movie that you also enjoy real life gore or inspire violence. I have to say I have been completely desensitized to violence in media, yet still dead body's creep me out and I am still easily disturbed by scenes of real life violence. Yet I've had a few people make these assumptions about me so I know they exist. But though a movie may have gore and so on, it could be against a certain idea as well as being informative. Touching on whether or not it inspires violence; this is usually in a case of adolescence or mental illness. It's up to parents to censor what there children see as well as being there to explain what they've seen when they do see it. Bad parenting is not the artists fault and your child is not their responsibility. As for mental illness this is also for the proper authorities or the family of the person(s) to handle. Besides, in this case it's just as likely for the person to act out just the same despite the fact. whether or not there was a violent movie to inspire the said person is irrelevant.

Anyway, just thinking out loud...

Also upon saying this if I have ever told you something like "I'm curious about what it might be like to kill someone" or something of the sort, it was sarcasm. I was messing with you because you made a rude and ignorant assumption because I watch movies. I don't condone real life violence or the likes and it disturbs me the issue even needs to be touched and it really does. But I'd like to point this out either way, I write, read and watch FICTION and over non-fiction. Saying that should end any assumption you have of me right off the bat.

Mushroomhead

So I was taken out to Ohio for the Mushroomhead Annual Halloween Show... It was really awesome. I saw Blue Felix live and had never seen them before (which is rather surprising).  Here check them out...

They were pretty awesome! We actually went to the Slaughter House Roadshow event the night before so we did get to see everyone twice. The first show was at the Alrosa and their lead singer Toxsick Tripp literally tore the roof down... Seriously he hung upside down from the rafters of the venue and accidentally tore down the roof! Anyway, they put on the best live show I've seen since... Well, Mushroomhead.  Plus Toxsick pulls off Thrift Store Chic better than anyone since the early 90's!

Then the bands always hang out at the merch counters at these shows so I got my little cousin closer to the bands. Here is us with Blue Felix, some of the nicest guys too! Go figure...

 Me with Toxsick Tripp...
Bandi with Toxsick and the X-hail...
And of course who doesn't get some merch and signatures when you meet a group you enjoy? Support the art!

Then we saw Psycostick live who got big off of this song...
They were hilarious live and were highly entertaining. We of course bought the Beer is good album and the new album Space Vampires VS. Zombie Dinosaurs in 3D. Got them signed and hung out with the band who were also just as nice. Especially the bassist Matty (AKA Moose!) a fellow Juggalo and overall nice guy. Whoop Whoop!

Check out this music video with a song from their new album...

And another favorite of mine...

And of course pics of us getting closer to the band...

Then came Mushroomhead! They are amazing live, Their set this year was amazing and getting to see them in their home town was nothing but inspiring! I have a large amount of respect for these guys and have been listening to them since at least the fifth grade!

Here check them out...

Then of course you've got to see their set this year!

We even got to see J Man play live with them! The original lead singer! Which was an amazing event for me!

We did get to meet the band and get autographs to. We got gold tickets so we were there for the meet and greet and even got to see them do sound check in person. Over all very over stimulating for me. Not to mention I finally acquired an official Mushroomhead mask!

Here pics...

And I even let Bandi try it on...

Over all the whole trip was really great and being able to share it with and inspire my cousin who is working to become a musician was really amazing. She got to see them play live in their town amongst the hardcore fans that made them who they are. She also got to see how they support independence and true art and give local bands a chance to open for them no matter what style or genre which is also very inspiring.

I want to thank all the bands who put so much work forth to entertain us fans. Who stay true to their art and never forget where they came from. You guys are truly f****g awesome! Respect!

Haunts.

So, I have finally been through the nearby haunts Kentucky/Indiana has to offer. Owensboro has The Slaughter on Second Street... Evansville has The Zombie Farm, The Asylum + The slaughter, The Old Catacombs + The house of lector. The Old Catacombs and The house of lector flat out suck. They have a great set up which is completely ruined by poor acting and a lack of good props. If your good at scaring people you shouldn't need to rely on power tools. Plus I was constantly missing a step or running into something not to mention I had to avoid puke at some point. Awful haunt. The Slaughter on Second Street and the Asylum were decent and worth the money to go in. The Zombie Farm is my favorite though, great stuff! For one being greeted by Skeet Gean is awesome every time. Funny guy, real nice. Overall it has great actors that are very interactive and make the whole thing a real blast. Plus the props from Gore Galore including their Goat Head prop. Over all zombie Farm is my favorite! The Asylum does have a Zombie Lurker prop from Gore Galore which is pretty Awesome to.

Here check em out:

Okay, that should cover it and give you some idea of what to expect. I'm in full support of The Zombie Farm, definitely the most fun out of them all. I'll post pictures of me at The Zombie farm as soon as they are uploaded. For now, goodnight.

My tattoo

So my tattoo is all healed and looking good! Take a look...

I gave a basic concept sketch to the artist and he ran with it and exceeded my expectations! Thanks Will!

Here is my concept sketch...

I'd say he really took it up a notch and left me with a piece anyone could be proud to wear...
It took about four hours of work and Will was easy to get along with and made the over all experience quite comfortable.

Hellraiser...

Okay it has come to my attention that Hellraiser: Revelations is a sequel and not the actual remake...  First of all, I'm never satisfied with my own writing but I know I'm at least a decent writer; but if f*****g DOUG BRADLY of all people turned down my script I'd rewrite that screen play so f*****g quick... So the director Victor Garcia instead of having writer Gary J. Tunnicliffe redo his f**k up he casts someone else to play the legendary and iconic role of Pinhead... I don't know who these two A**-Clowns are but I've immediately lost all respect for them... I don't know if Doug Bradly has other reasons for not taking the role but I can't imagine he would give it up without good reason and either way I would not have made the film regardless much less RUSHED it. Hellraiser is a classic, not to mention it popped my horror movie cherry. I really am upset to hear from the first screening they showed the film was terrible and without Doug Bradly.  The only thing people have seemed to agree on is the gore is executed well. F**k that though, Clive Barker created a unique story rich with plot and wasn't about the gore. well... At least there was a good thought out story there. Though the movies always had the gore factor they at least stayed true to "The Hellbound Heart" to some extent when they began and kept the story rich. No one ever gets to direct ANY of my work except for me... I will still probably watch it so whatever... I'm defiantly not paying to watch it though...

Here take a look at the "NEW" Pinhead:

F*****g A... This is like the era of unoriginal work and piss poor artists making quick money by ruining other peoples hard work by adding on to it with grade A crap...

Other than that I'm not excited about a remake but I can at the very least say I am curious...  I'm really not sure what's going on with it and I'm not sure if project: Angel is a part of it but I know the guy wanted to simply redo Pinheads look himself to keep some hack job from doing anything like above.

Either way Project: Angel is a million times better looking than that straight up bargain bin garbage...  Also does kind of have the look and feel of Clives current artwork.

Check out project angel:

Still not our classic Doug Bradly work of art but... After hearing about the sequel and seeing that imposter, I really can't complain...

Also Clive is apparently writing a Hellbound heart II and has just released the new comic which I hear doesn't disappoint (go figure)...

Hey stranger...

Okay, it really has been a while since I left any ridiculous banters on here so I've got your fix tonight...

Not a whole lot going on lately... Except the lease ending at the end of the month causing a desire to move back to our home town along with the stress of moving and the friendly but violent fights family's have during the whole process... But not much else.

As of writing wise... Well I haven't worked on any of my projects for some time now, maybe a week. I feel dreadfully useless because of it but I vow to finish something before the end of the summer. I will tell you I have made great progress on my screenplay and my novel which I believe will be finished much earlier than I first thought.  I hope soon I will have the time to work on my bigger projects.

On another note, I have indeed begun to write poetry again! Awesome right? It's been a while and I started off rusty but we might be seeing something going on with that...

Hmm, what else... Oh I should have mentioned it but... I did in fact rent Hobo with a Shotgun when it came out on the VOD the day of and all I can say is I watched it twice in a row right then and there. It captures the ole Grind-house feel perfectly and throws gore galore at you along side a well written almost cute little love story about ye old vagabond and his always loaded boom stick. From what I saw behind the scenes there was a lot of innovative techniques used for FX and it looks brilliant all the way through. I give it five stars and a chest bump no doubt. You would be wrong to not check it out...

Also I expect to see MR. Fister in theaters in the coming years!

Bleh...

Why can't I seem to finish anything? I wouldn't say I'm lazy, perhaps easily distracted... Okay I am lazy but not when it comes to writing... All I have to do is sit here and type... I'm generally doing it anyway, so why is nothing done...

Okay... Gotta get some work done then I guess....

Why I hate politics...

It's real simple here why I hate politics or more so why I hate discussing them, actually more like loathe. I think it's fair to say that now days I am social and I am rather well spoken and have some respectful views of the world, but some people will not be convinced they are wrong. I can, why can't other folks? Well, some folks will lie and lie when everyone around them knows the stone cold truth and never change their mind. They'll flat out say some bulls**t to make a point even though it is well known common knowledge they are arguing against. So no matter how much or how well you argue they will not change their mind... So why bother to argue?

I say I don't belong to any political party for this reason, either side can be right or wrong at any given moment! Labels like this are a huge reason we fight in the first place, someone says they're this or that and some one says they're the other and boom neither of them could ever be right in the other persons eyes no matter what even if they're discussing parenting... Well, in my eyes they're both wrong in that case... I believe we should all just call ourselves Americans with one common goal in mind and that is making a better safer America. Better yet how about we just be PEOPLE with one common goal of making a better, safer, PEACEFUL WORLD? No labels, no fighting, no lying, just coming together to put forth ideas that benefit us all as a whole!

So if I am ever approached about politics keep in mind I follow my own... I believe in helping out in anyway I can to better our planet, telling the truth, being positive, being humane, not making my every goal in life driven towards personal gain, I listen to others opinions and humor them because even though I may not agree with an opinion, fighting over it will only make me feel negative... I also believe that when you know you're wrong to the point that the s**t flying out of your mouth makes people want to cause you harm it's time to give up and admit you're a lying piece of s**t and not continue to lie and make yourself look even dumber than you already have!

Another thing, none of us and I mean NONE of us are anywhere near as smart as some of us seem to think we are... We are insignificant in the grand scheme of things and we don't even fully use our brain! This world and universe is much to vast for you to gain all the knowledge there is to gain in this lifetime, which means when you call someone stupid you in return are calling yourself stupid. We all live in different walks of life and had entirely different learning experiences. No one is any smarter than anyone else, perhaps more knowledgeable in a certain subject but that's it. You need to open yourself up to learning and realize how little you really do know despite how smart you think you are. I know one thing for sure and that is that I don't know anything... I have wisdom, life experience and some education but I'm not even a tiny bit closer to being knowledgeable in all walks of life.

Now if you excuse me I'm going back to writing about zombies...

Why horror?

First of all people who repress feelings of violence and anger are the people you need to be watching out for... People who are bottling those emotions are the folks who are flattening peoples skulls with ball peen hammers and running over old lady's on cross walks. It's like Mentos and Diet Coke, You put in the Mentos and the pressure builds up then boom half a dozen people have died in a school shooting. Why do you think these folks are so outrageously cruel in the end? Probably because some dumb ass hypocrite went after Alice Cooper, Marlyin Manson or ICP after their kid or a student in their school lost their s**t and killed a bunch of people while wearing one of their T-shirts instead of blaming themselves for not paying attention. But why take the blame for not giving a s**t about one student who seemed weird or ignoring your son because his interest in music clashes with your love for gardening, especially when there is such an easy target to blame in the media... Then you probably caused them to repress those feelings by telling them it wasn't okay to feel that way or by shoving pills down there throat because you didn't want to talk to them about it.

Well, the people who make the movies that make most people want to vomit are my hero's. The bands that tons of people love to hate are music to my ears and I don't give a s**t who or why someone thinks I need be locked up for thinking the way I do. Why you ask? because these people took a negative thought which you and I both know at one point or another we all have had and turned it into something positive. A way to express, vent and let go of these feelings. All the while you criticized them because they were different and you were the one who couldn't get their own s**t together. Then you make those folks suppress those feelings and make them unable to express themselves freely without fear of ridicule.

That's why I choose to write the way I do, enjoy what I do, and most of all continue to feel the way I do. I need to share those feelings as well. We give outlets to the folks you ignore and help them through dark times. We touch on emotions that people seem to be afraid of and we work with them to make people feel the emotion and experience the tense feelings and then we are able to let them go. After the whole thing is said and done, the boss you wanted to kill just before your weekend began is safe yet again because you just let us help you cut loose and let go of those feelings. It's why it's fun to be scared and it's what keeps us coming back for more.

So it's time to stop questioning these folks and let them do what they do, they make that stuff for a reason. It's time to stop blaming them, they didn't pull the trigger. It's time to stop ignoring the truth which is the fact you're ignoring the real problem which just happens to be your lack of concern and taking responsibility for your own actions. When you ignore those feelings and cause folks to bottle them up then your the problem... it's time to be way more open minded about these and so many other things...

That's why I feel so lucky... I was encouraged to be open and do what makes me happy. I was told to express myself freely and take interest into things other people didn't understand if it made me happy. I was allowed to experience those sorts of things in a safe environment with someone to explain things to me instead of having to sneak around and not having any guidance. I was raised around the macabre and weird because it was what helped me get through my own s**t and kept me happy right from the beginning. It is the medium that I can express my feelings with. It is what helps me cope with the harsh reality that surrounds us every day and most of all it's what I know best. I encourage anyone who thinks differently to express themselves freely so long as you don't hurt anybody else. When you think about it, someone somewhere will always have something negative to say and in the end all that matters is how you feel!

The 90's...

I really miss the early 90's now days...There was so much cool stuff out when I was little. I had some of the coolest toys, Game Gear, hell Sega in general. So much stuff now sucks and I look back and wonder what the f**k happened... People now seem so much dumber on top of it and almost all media sucks at the moment. I remember Bobby's World, X-men, Silver Surfer... Geez there where so many awesome cartoons when I was younger... Nothing now could even begin to top the s**t I used to watch when I was a kid. Man, and the toys, forget about it. Some of the toys I had back then I would open up and play with now. I really, really miss the good ole days when I run into the commercials and intros to cartoons and toy's I was around when I was little. Now days, everything just seems so boring... I think it's what has been driving me to work non stop on things lately... I feel like so much sucks right now; someone who knows what they're doing needs to step up and share their work and entertain the way things used to... New thing's back then always seemed to pop even if they didn't last long. I wonder if there is just a lack of creativity these days or maybe people are just feeling so much more judged because of all the ignorance being passed around today... Either way, I can tell you this, I couldn't give two s***s and a f**k what people think of me and I know there is always going to be a fan base lurking that appreciates what I produce. I need to finish some stuff and share it quick before I loose my mind over how mundane things have become.

Also people who feel uninspired or shy, forget about everyone else... If people don't start going back to being open and sharing their true feelings we're all going to be f****d and there is not going to be a reach around... On top of that the only thing on TV anymore will be just politics... I mean seriously, when is the last time you even watched Saturday morning cartoons?

Skeleton Warriors - Opening

I want the action figures I had when I was a kid back so bad... If I bought these now I would have to open them and play with them! Ha ha, I really do kind of miss my child hood... Growing up kind of sucks when I see this stuff. I had the skull cycle and everything. Man, the 90's were really awesome!

Ironically, these also had my attention around the time of Battle Trolls... I need to look up Skeleton Warriors now...

Battle Trolls

These where my <3 when I was a wee little horde... These and the old Halloween monster foot ball cards you got at the gas station... Can't remember which... Also Pogs! Oh my god Pogs... They where so useless yet, I had a million of the little f*****s...

Transworld Haunt Show 2011 - LHB designs (NEW)

It might just be me but I think the masks with the bands for your forehead seem sort of lazy... But I suppose they would be useful for getting lots of people through make up fast. I do think the Air Scare masks are pretty awesome. They're probably a real pain in the a** but with the air blast feature it would probably totally be worth the hassle. Those things always get a good scare.

Artwork...

I also do allot of drawing and painting... I'm not good enough to live up to my own standards  but I work on getting better all the time. You can see my progress here: JT-Rotts My Deviant Art page

Here is the last piece I drew and uploaded so you can get a taste of what I do:

I'll be taking a break to do some art oriented projects after this movie project dies down in preparation for the graphic novel project.  I'll be sure to mention when to look out for new art!
